The GEL-Kayano is ASICS’ premium stability shoe and has been a flagship model for quite some time.
GEL-KAYANO wearers are often loyal to the shoe as it has continued to be one of the most medially supportive shoes on the market. What these repeat customers will notice in version 28 is an increase in comfort, with a more cushioned underfoot feel from the moment you put the shoe on through to the end of a long run. Those who feel that their current stability shoe is functional but not providing long-lasting cushioning will likely find this model to be a good replacement.
This shoe makes for a great daily trainer and is best suited to heel strikers due to its placement of gel cushioning at the rearfoot. The gel, in conjunction with the soft Flytefoam blast midsole, is particularly helpful for those who tend to overstride and/or run at a slower pace. It works toprovide improved shock attenuation for the calcaneus which experiences greater impact in this population.
The heel drop specs have remained the same, matching the Nimbus model for the highest drop in ASICS range. There continues to be a height difference between male and female models as well as gender-specific placement of the 3D Space Construction. These differences are designed to suit common movement patterns for each gender with the goal of increased comfort and durability of the shoe.
The GEL-KAYANO 28 continues to provide its well known medial support and stability whilst also offering a smoother and more premium feeling ride.
