Our materials

Animation of recycled fabric

Polyester Fabric from Recycled PET Bottles

Polyester production from recycled PET bottles emits less CO₂e and uses fewer fossil resources than traditional polyester production.

At least 50% of the GEL-KAYANO™ 31 shoe’s main upper* is made with polyester fabric from recycled PET.

The main material in the GEL-QUANTUM 360 VIII UTILITY shoe's main upper is made from SYNTHETIC FIBER (at least 75% recycled polyester).

Bio-Based Materials

Bio-based materials are intentionally made from substances derived from living (or once-living) organisms. These natural resources can be drawn upon to create fabrics for textiles or compounds for sole components. Sugarcane and cellulose nanofiber are some examples.

GEL-KAYANO™ 31 and METARISE™ 2 PARIS shoes feature FF BLAST™ PLUS ECO cushioning, which is made with at least 20% bio-based material.

Solution Dyeing

Some of our apparel is made using a technique called solution dyeing. This technology can reduce the large amount of wastewater generated during the apparel manufacturing and dyeing process.

Solution dyeing will help reduce carbon emissions from our dyeing by 45% and reduce water usage by 33%.

GEL-KAYANO™ 31, METARISE™ 2 PARIS and GEL-QUANTUM 360™ VIII shoes sockliner are made using a solution dyeing process.
