Since our founding in 1949, our purpose has been to help people achieve a Sound Mind In A Sound Body. But in order to achieve a Sound Mind, Sound Body, we need a sound Earth to run on.

So we’re taking action. By reducing CO₂ emissions, embracing recycled materials and using less resources, our goal is to bring the benefits of movement to the world we love to move in.

Run for Reforestation Challenge

In 2025, we partnered with One Tree Planted to help Runkeeper users make a positive impact on the environment. Join us in our efforts to create a more sustainable future as we aim to plant more than 100,000 trees globally.

Our carbon footprint label

This label reflects our commitment to transparency around our carbon emissions. We’re measuring and sharing the carbon footprint of our products, allowing you to make decisions that benefit the mind, body and the planet.

Our efforts towards circularity

At ASICS, we are shifting to a circular approach in three ways: Less, Cleaner and Longer.

GEL-NIMBUS 27 shoe

GEL-NIMBUS® 27

Approximately 27% lower carbon footprint than industry average.*

*Assessed using ASICS’ carbon footprint methodology version 1.1 and the most comprehensive reporting available for industry average running shoes, conducted by MIT (report).

Our materials

Animation of recycled fabric

Polyester Fabric from Recycled PET Bottles

Polyester production from recycled PET bottles emits less CO₂e and uses fewer fossil resources than traditional polyester production.

At least 50% of the GEL-NIMBUS® 27 shoe’s main upper* is made with polyester fabric from recycled PET.

The main upper contains 75% recycled materials in the GEL-QUANTUM 360™ VIII.

Animation of bio-based dyes

Bio-Based Materials

Bio-based materials are intentionally made from substances derived from living (or once-living) organisms. These natural resources can be drawn upon to create fabrics for textiles or compounds for sole components. Sugarcane and cellulose nanofiber are some examples.

The GEL-RESOLUTION® X and GEL-QUANTUM 360™ VIII shoes feature FF BLAST™ PLUS cushioning, which is made with at least 20% bio-based material.

Animation of solution dyes

Solution Dyeing

Some of our apparel is made using a technique called solution dyeing. This technology can reduce the large amount of wastewater generated during the apparel manufacturing and dyeing process.

Solution dyeing will help reduce carbon emissions from our dyeing by 45% and reduce water usage by 33%.

The COURT FF™ 3 NOVAK and GEL-RESOLUTION™ X sockliners are made using a solution dyeing process that reduces water usage by approximately 33% and carbon emissions by approximately 45% (compared to the conventional dyeing technology).

These images are artistic interpretations of recycled or sustainable materials. They may not be actual representations of the specific ASICS product or material used.
*ASICS defines "shoe's main upper material" as the material which covers the most surface area in the upper.
