ASICS 2024 State of Mind Study

ASICS believes everyone should be able to experience the positive physical and mental benefits of exercise.

In 2024, we launched our second Global State of Mind Index (SOMI) Study, surveying over 26,000 people across 22 countries. The study explored the relationship between exercise levels and people's state of mind across the world.

The State of Mind score is calculated out of 100, based on the cumulative mean scores across ten cognitive and emotional traits.

The study found a positive link between physical activity levels and mental wellbeing throughout people’s lifetimes.

On April 9th, 2024, ASICS publicly shared the study results across the world.

Key Findings

  • The more people exercise, the higher their State of Mind scores.
  • Being active in our teenage years impacts our state of mind in adulthood.
  • Worryingly, younger generations are being less active and dropping out of exercise earlier.
  • The ASICS State of Mind Study demonstrates the positive link between regular movement and mental wellbeing around the world.
  • The ASICS State of Mind Study identifies a strong link between exercise in teenage years and positive mental wellbeing in adulthood - demonstrating the need to support the lifetime athlete in all of us.
