The ever helpful ASICS team wanted to find a tennis shoe for me within their top range. Alas, I was reluctant and felt that I had an adequate shoe already in the Gel-Challenge 12, which I rated as 4.5/5 Stars and really felt was the best shoe around for my needs. I persevered through the testing process and almost left the last model in the box. One of my colleagues has been using this shoe for most of his career and his feet are narrow and completely at the other end of the spectrum from my wide (2E) preference.
How wrong was I!

COMFORT: I don’t remember ever being able to play points in a shoe straight out of the box. Honestly it normally takes 8-12 hours to break in a shoe. These went into point mode immediately. My arch was supported and the inner sole cushioning molded around my foot simultaneously. The toe box discomfort i normally feel was non existent and I found the upper nice and pliable. I was amazed at the level of comfort.

DURABILITY: Under the duress of a 40+ hour week and a 193cm frame these are really holding up well.

STABILITY: One of the lightest models around, feels like a runner and a very offensive, mobile shoe. You would expect a compromise in stability. This is not the case. The all round stability I have found to be exceptional.

VERDICT:

5/5 STARS. An outstanding shoe for me that I can whole heartedly recommend.
